【Glancing at Snow】
The time of spring equinox
Yet a heavy snow quietly arrives
filling the backyard
Idling inside the house
Watching snowflakes outside the window
I glimpse a solitary bird scurrying about
and suddenly a taste of snow comes to mind
For instance
Having my back against a fireplace
peering through bright glass
at snow flying outside
and
Standing amid the falling snow
flakes fluttering on my face
What is the fundamental difference between them
I suppose
Observing snow through glass
the colder the glass
the warmer the heart
To watch snow is really to look at the moon
a distant gaze upon a blank space
Standing in snow watching it fluttering
the colder the heart
the warmer the snow
To watch snow is really to look at water
a constant gaze upon the departed
Watching snow through glass
the moon is an ungraspable illusion
Chewing snow while standing in it
the flakes that soak through the tongue become blood

水上漂著樹葉;
鮮花勃發在空中;
發在風的芳香中流;
滾向另一邊地球;

【Fin de Siècle: Popular Ballads • Festival Odes • Sacrificial Songs】
Elegant Air 1
The river flows down—
Leaves drifting on the water;
Roots point down—
Flowers bloom in the air;
Fruits point up—
Hair blows in the fragrant wind;
Elegant airs, elegant airs,
My darling younger sister—
Rinsing glittering gold in the water.
An Air of Elegance 2
Boat in the river—
Woman in the boat—
Dreams on the veins of leaves
A kind of wild game is growing.
In April, buds underground,
Like an early awakened spawning fish, a woman emits
An intoxicating scent—
Please fly! My spring lover.
Air/Elegance 3
Booze on the tree—
Grains underground—
Fire in the temperature—
A colorful woman rippling in the festival
Dancing beneath the rhizome, splitting open
The soil, in the white rupture—
Bubbling springs, nectar and flames—
and the woman who rides the steed, galloping to heaven.
Elegant/Air 4
The sound of elegant airs,
spilling over the billowing waves of wheat—
At the horizon,
a pumpkin rolls—
A perfectly round brass gong,
beating the village persimmon—
In autumn, I hear
an elegant air, singing out in the pearl rain of the country
Air/Elegance 5
Time in exile—
The book only turned to page one—
Last night, there was a coating of frost on the ground,
Oh, friends setting off on a journey,
The sounds of footsteps echoing in the distance.
There’s no lighthouse, there’s no boat,
That’s not our homeland:
Lonely drifting water, fireworks and caves—
Oh, time is starving,
The roots are drinking swamp water.
Elegant/Air 6
The orange is cut in half,
rolls to the other end of the earth;
Teeth are caught in the orange impeller,
cutting up the colorful ribbon of youth—
The young swallows shuttle across the Milky Way,
lighting lamp after lamp—
filling both ends of the sky
with floating dreamlike feathers.
