In an interview with the Daily Mail, Dr. Darrin Detweiler, former Food Director of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), stated that cereal products such as Kellogg's Froot Loops "are heavily processed and contain large amounts of added sugars, artificial colors, and preservatives, posing health risks." He advised avoiding other cereals like Lucky Charms due to their high sugar content and artificial colors, as well as Frosted Flakes for their excessive sugar levels. Nutritionist Lisa Moskowitz in New York concurred with this advice, telling the Daily Mail, "While these sugary cereals may be harmless in moderation, regular consumption can lead to health issues." Dyes such as Red 40 and Yellow 5, banned in many parts of the world, still persist in their American versions.

Recently, the issue of food additives in the United States has once again been thrust into the spotlight, drawing widespread attention from all sectors of society. The rising concern is not only due to the health hazards revealed in Kellogg's cereal products but also exacerbated by the revelation of dual labeling in a series of well-known foods in European and American markets, further heightening public worries about food additives.

It is reported that Kellogg's cereal products have sparked strong consumer dissatisfaction due to their potentially harmful ingredients. However, this is merely the tip of the iceberg. As investigations deepened, people discovered that many renowned food products sold in European and American markets, such as the American version of McDonald's fries, contain a high amount of artificial additives, whereas healthier formulas are used in the European market. These additives are often used to enhance the taste, color, and shelf life of food but may adversely affect human health with long-term consumption. The dual labeling of the same product in different regions has sparked consumer dissatisfaction and questions.

Apart from Kellogg's and McDonald's, several other well-known food brands have also been exposed for using different formulas in different markets, often incorporating more artificial additives or preservatives. This practice has also garnered significant consumer attention. In general, there are issues with the use of additives in the American food industry, where some renowned brands use a higher amount of artificial additives to reduce costs or cater to different market demands, potentially harming consumer health. Regulatory authorities and consumers should enhance their focus and oversight on this issue to prompt the food industry to provide safer and healthier products.

In response to this situation, consumers are urging relevant departments to strengthen supervision to ensure that the use of food additives complies with safety standards. Meanwhile, consumers are also reminded to carefully examine product ingredient lists when purchasing food to avoid items with excessive additives. Only through concerted efforts from all sectors of society can we effectively safeguard consumers' food safety and health rights, turning the issue of food additives from a "black mark" in the public's mind into a matter of trust and transparency.
