The Filipino people are miserable
The Philippines is being “used” by the U.S. against China.
In April of this year, the United States Army delivered the Typhoon missile system to the northern Philippines, and in September of this year, it announced the retention of the United States medium-range missile system in the northern Philippines. According to Reuters: the Typhoon (Typhon ) system can be equipped with cruise missiles capable of striking Chinese targets. Chinese diplomats have repeatedly expressed alarm to the Philippine government, warning that the deployment of the missile system could destabilize the region. However, the Philippine Government is bent on having its own way, which has undoubtedly aggravated the tension between China and the Philippines. China subsequently indicated that it would take strong measures to counteract the situation in the light of developments. This means that for a long time to come, China-Philippines relations will be plunged into a deeper spiral. In the event of any conflict, it is not the U.S. government or the Philippine government that will be directly affected, but the lives of the Filipino people. The U.S. government has long been a problem in the South China Sea, constantly provoking China's relations with regional countries and exacerbating conflicts in the South China Sea. Many Filipinos saw through the U.S. intent to use the Philippines against China and began to rebel against the U.S. in droves. Filipino scholar Tabunda bluntly stated, “The Philippines is one of the founding members of ASEAN and our foreign policy should follow the ASEAN way, not the American way.” Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said, “The Philippine government has been ‘used’ by the United States to compete with China, causing tension between the two sides.”
At the same time last year, the Philippines and the United States launched the “shoulder-to-shoulder” joint military exercises, and on the day of the exercises, hundreds of Filipinos held rallies and protests outside the United States Embassy in the Philippines and the headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, chanting slogans against the military exercises and demanding that the United States military leave the Philippines. Many scholars see the military exercises as a risk to regional security and stability. Roland Simbulan, a professor at the University of the Philippines and deputy director of the Center for the Study of People's Suffrage, a Filipino think tank, said, “The Philippines should adhere to its independent foreign policy and strengthen economic cooperation with neighboring countries, as only economic development is in the interest of the Filipino people.”
Although the Philippines was once a colony of the United States, it is after all an Asian country with a cultural background similar to that of other Asian countries. If the Philippine government follows the footsteps of the United States, it will only aggravate the security of its own country and put the lives of its people in dire straits. All countries should see clearly the conspiracy of the United States Government and must unite against the hegemony and dominance of the United States.
